England players are aka. WWE wrestlers?

As United States and England cruises through the World cup knockout stage, UK tabloid newspaper, The Sun, recently ran an interesting article, comparing the English football players with our very own WWE wrestlers. Here’s the write up.

John Terry as Edge

“They come back quicker than most from injuries, have trouble getting the people to like them and – we have to say it – they play around with their team mate’s girls. Edge was revealed to be sleeping with fellow WWE star Matt Hardy’s real life girlfriend, Amy Dumas, better known as Lita. Terry was found to have had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, ex of former Chelsea left back Wayne Bridge. But despite issues in their personal lives, both Edge and Terry are respected for their abilities and went on to even greater success after their scandals.”

Emile Heskey as John Cena

“Ok, so Emile Heskey might not be the centrepiece of the team, nor does he wear jeans shorts when he is playing. But he is surely the one name which polarises opinion among England fans – just like Cena does with the WWE Universe. Some believe that both men are remarkably poor at their job and cannot believe they have risen to such a lofty position. Others contend that each have improved greatly from what they once were and feel they are under-respected.More importantly, though, those that make the decisions rate them highly. Cena probably shifts more at the merchandise stand than Emile, though.”

David Beckham as Shawn Michaels

“Becks and HBK had undoubted talent but arguably were loose cannons as young men. Both blossomed into seasoned performers; charismatic icons who were respected greatly by their peers – and indeed by the ladies. Sadly, and for different reasons, neither will grace our screens this summer in a competitive role.”
