The flame reignites!

In 1997, fourteen years ago, Kane made his on screen debut as the half brother of the infamous phenom, The Undertaker. A year later, at King Of The Ring 1998, Kane beat his brother and won an opportunity to face the Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin. That night, Kane’s name was set ablaze when he defeated Austin and captured his first heavyweight championship.

Since then, Kane has went on to wrestle and pair up with big names like Big Show, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Edge, John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair and the list goes on. But the Big Red Monster was never handed the coveted gold, until lately – until last sunday, when he captured the world heavyweight championship after 13 years of hiatus.

Although many would argue that his present championship is in fact his third heavyweight title reign – he has captured the ECW heavyweight championship in 2008, but we all know how much weight the ECW title had in the company. It went bust early this year. Enough said? Still, historically, beside being the fastest MITB winner to cash in his contract, Kane is also the only man in the company that has won all three heavyweight championship. He won the WWE championship in 1998. The ECW championship in 2008. And the World heavyweight championship in 2010.

So what’s behind the sudden passion for Kane anyway? Well, if you’ve been a loyal reader to WrestlingDynasty, we have mentioned a couple of times that management has been concerned about Undertaker’s ability to wrestle in the coming years. Sure enough, The Deadman has all the heart and soul to give to the company. He is loyal, committed and dedicated but his body is waning. He has been in the biz for 25 years! So logically, writers and managers are looking to groom the next successor for the phenom – an equal representation of darkness and fame. Who else better than his half brother, Kane?

With one door closed, another door opens. Regardless whether the creative direction is set for Kane to fight The Undertaker when the Deadman returns or to push Nexus’s invasion to Smackdown, there’s one thing that is certain – Kane’s name will be brightly lit in the coming months.
