Cena comments on Taker, The Rock & more!

John Cena has been really busy over the weekend. His movie, “Legendary” has opened in many theatres since last Friday. Cena revealed (and leaked) about a potential showdown with The Undertaker at WrestleMania next year. When asked what’s the next challenge for the latter, Oscar or trying to end Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak, Cena said he wants to challenge the Undertaker at WrestleMania and be the man to end the infamous streak.

Cena also commented about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s success in Hollywood. “I think Dwayne has done such an awesome job being a successful actor. The only problem is he left us; he’s no longer doing activity with WWE. I think the way WWE Studios is going now – they’re going away from action, doing more drama, possibly more comedy – it will open a lot of people’s eyes. Because a lot of people see big guy, big frame: action superstar. We’ve proven, especially with ‘Legendary,’ that that is not always the case.”

Vince Mcmahon is said to be very pleased with Cena. The CEO openly revealed, “John is an extraordinary human being; he’s honest, he’s loyal. He’s full of himself, too. But he’s like a throwback to the type of individual it’s difficult find these days, someone with old-fashioned values. In addition to that, he’s a Neanderthal when it comes to strength.” He added, “No matter how good you are as a human being, you need talent. You could tell that John had talent – very raw talent, mind you.”

It is not often to get praises from the boss. If you ask me, John Cena is really high up in Mcmahon’s book of love.

Twist Of Fate: The Matt/Jeff Story

•September 12, 2010 • Leave a Comment

In 1998, Jeff and Matt Hardy caught the eyes of then WWF and was quickly signed to the company. Prior to their official endorsement, Jeff and Matt worked as jobbers (unnamed wrestler who consistently loses to make opponent look strong) and wrestle names such as Razor Ramon, 123 Kid etc

After their contract have been inked, they formed the dynamic acrobatic tag team called the Hardy Boyz. They started out feuding with The Brood (Gangrel, Edge and Christian) before hitching Michael Hayes as their manager. On July 5, 1999 they won their first WWF Tag Team Championship by defeating the Acolytes. The Hardyz continued their feud with Edge and Christian throughout the next two years and later, added the Dudley Boyz into the mix to form the renowned stipulation of Tables, Ladders & Chairs. By 2000, Lita (Amy Dumas) was paired with the brothers which gave birth to Team Xtreme.

In 2002, The Hardy Boyz was split due to the WWE’s brand separation; Jeff was sent to RAW while Matt to Smackdown. In the clear line of WWE’s history, tag team never last and each will always been given opportunity to compete in the singles division. As irony as it may sounds, The Hardy Boyz’s “Twist Of Fate” has literally in many sense, panned the high and lows for each Hardy. One went on to achieve great heights while the other is still struggling to make an impression.

On one side, Matt Hardy can’t seems to catch a break in his life. He has faced strong adversity, coming up from being betrayed by his beloved girlfriend, Lita, and his long time good friend, Edge, as well as a series of short term injuries that hiccup most of his career momentum. But no matter how the chips fall, Matt still troops on and holds his head up high.

Jeff, on the other hand, has caught every break in the wind. He has blown opportunity after opportunity, (drug abuse, court hearing, time off, pursuit of other interest), but still, he has never failed to get recognition from writers and management from time to time.

That got me thinking — how it is that one brother gets all the luck, while the other one always seems to get the shaft? I suppose it could just that ‘twist of fate” playing itself out. I believe I’m not the only one who feels that Matt is harder and better ring worker than Jeff. He is well equipped with ring ethnics and would sacrifice for what’s best for the business.

When the whole Lita and Edge scandal broke out years ago, Matt soldiered on and kept going. He didn’t have to play the distasteful angle out on TV, but he did anyways because it was good for business at that time. He was jobbed when he was told to do so and he did it like a man. Matt has put on so many stellar matches for Vince over the years. And how was he rewarded for his hard work? He has been fired, injured, betrayed, and brushed aside by the man he has fought for. To say the least, i believe it had bothered anyone who has a conscience.

Jeff has always been exciting to watch—there is no denying there. I’ve idolized him since the beginning. I believe he gets all the girls across the country to take a second look at him. He soars like a bird and gave wrestling a new meaning of being that daredevil. I don’t wish Jeff ill but I think he got a lot of catching up to do in his life. His free spirited persona may be cool at times, but he got to settle down. He needs to ground himself and stay focus. Jeff Hardy – these two words can have a bigger draw than John Cena, CM Punk, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle or any present main eventers. But Jeff got to commit. Why settle for second or third best, when Jeff has so much of potential to harness?

Over the years, I have seen so many tag teams come and go. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best teams I saw emerged and flying past the rainbow of success was the Hardy Boyz. Although both men are much older than I’m but I seen their growth over the years. From the times they were puppies in the ring to the time they are now called men. I wish them both the best – to Jeff, stay clean and harness that wild potential of yours, to Matt, I hope someday your effort will pay off. And when it does, I’m be at ringside or in front of my TV screen applauding for the man I’ve grown to respect.

Like most things in life, here are the two paths of Jeff and Matt Hardy. Their journey traveled is nothing more than a Twist of Fate.

Beth Phoenix who was injured three months ago due to her torn anterior cruciate ligament with Rosa Mendes, is set to return in a month’s time. Her rumored return date is scheduled to be on October 1, the day where Smackdown kicks off their run at Syfy.

Speaking of Smackdown kicking off at Syfy on 1st October, it is interesting to note that the network has decided to drop WWE NXT after their decision to pick up Friday Night Smackdown. What’s going to happen to the future of NXT remains on everyone’s mind. NXT 3 feature diva selection and it will not run as long as its predecessor.

Former TNA star Kip James (aka. WWE star, Billy Gunn) is alleged to be involved in a extramarital affair with a woman. The woman in question has posted photos and audio recordings of her conversations with Gunn, including his reaction when his wife discovered the affair. The recording revealed that Kip James blasted verbal abuse of “I HATE JEWS” as well as “I’ll blow you and you’re f*cking car up”. More updates shortly.

Kevin Nash has recently opened up his feelings on wrestling and TNA. He mentioned that he feels way better than he was in about 5-6 years. “I am one injury away from another rehab stint, but then I am sure I would come back again haha. Right now, I feel better than I have in about 5 or 6 years. I’ve lost a ton of weight and feel great. I don’t see myself stopping right now. I would stop when it stops being fun. I still get nervous when I haven’t wrestled in a while, but once I get going, I’m back into it. The other week on iMPACT!, I wrestled Jeff Jarrett in my first TV match in months and the next day, I felt great and really cared about what I do out there.”

Kurt Angle’s ex wife, Karen Angle and Jeff Jarrett has recently tied the wedding knot. Karen has since changed her name to Karen Jarrett and posted wedding photos on her facebook page. This is such a screwed up romance. Oh well, till next week! Later~

Linda vs Obama

Come this thursday, September 16, Obama is set to be in Connecticut to campaign for the democrats against the republican helms by Linda Mcmahon in the Connecticut’s U.S. Senate race. The event will held be at the Marriott Hotel in Stamford.

NRSC spokesperson, Brian Walsh said, “It speaks volumes that a candidate who was up by 30 points earlier this year in a deep blue state is now forced to call in the president for reinforcements. Clearly, Dick Blumenthal and national Democrats are seeing the same polls that we are.”

However, many analyst has strong views that Linda would not win her seat in the state as she has too many bad press to handle. During her campaign, Linda has being plagued by negative media especially her affiliation with WWE and the numerous death of wrestlers associated with the company.

Did You Know: OMEGA?

•September 10, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Before Matt and Jeff became the popular duo, The Hardy Boyz, the brothers jointly founded their own wrestling federation in their early teenage years. The federation, Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA) was established in 1997, and was run mainly as a promotion for the amateurs wrestlers. At the time, there weren’t many places to wrestle, so both Matt and Jeff Hardy took apart the ring and put it back together at every event they had, while Matt Hardy sewed all the costumes worn in OMEGA. Compared to other contemporary independent federations, OMEGA stood out because it incorporated high-flying wrestling, hardcore matches and gimmick matches into its shows.

It featured and helped launch the careers of both Hardys. Other notable names include Shannon Moore, Joey Mercury, Christian York, Joey Abs, Steve Corino, C.W. Anderson and Gregory Helms

The promotion folded in October 1999, after both Matt and Jeff Hardy was offered a contract with World Wrestling Federation, leaving other wrestlers moving onto NWA Wildside. In 2007, Highspots.com produced a two-disc DVD set entitled OMEGA: Uncommon Passion, chronicling the history of the promotion, including matches and interviews with many OMEGA wrestlers.
